OSBORNE (1815-1899) ARCHIVES, UNCOUNTED LOT, including photographs of "Broad Creek Del. / 1882", "Chestnut St. Bridge Phila", a bridge in "Lynchburg Va", "First Iron Bridge / Phila and Reading RR / 1896", drawings of the "Oola Bridge" and "Leahys Bridge", and "Professional Biography of Moncure Robinson, Civil Engineer.", published by J.B. Lippcott Company, 1899.Second half 19th century.Various sizes.
Catalogue Note: Richard Boyse Osborne was a noted civil engineer, having built railroads in Ireland and the United States, Osborne spent time as a draftsman for the Philadelphia & Reading railroad in 1838. In 1852 he became chief engineer for the Camden & Atlantic Railroad Co, he is nicknamed the "Father of Atlantic City", for wanting to connect the rail lines of Philadelphia and Camden to the beaches of New Jersey. He was an enthusiast for the narrow-gauge track.
