17th Century. By Ê¿AlÄʾ al-DÄ«n AbÅ« al-Ḥasan Ê¿AlÄ« ibn AbÄ« Ḥazm al-QarashÄ« al-DimashqÄ« known as Ibn al-NafÄ«s (d.1288) A compendium of medicine which was very popular among Arab physicians and got translated into Hebrew and other languages. The book contains four main sections, including; Medicine, diet and diseases of organs. It is a Persian work written in Arabic regarding medical subjects and derived from the Shaf’i school of legal thought. It was originally written by Hassan Qureyshi also known as Ibn al Nafis. This work includes part of the Najeeb a Din al Samaqandi work, who is also mentioned as a medical doctor. Ibn al-NafÄ«s is a prolific scholar of the 13th century, a prominent physician, and a practical and experimental medical researcher who refused to accept the previous medical opinions of Greek and Muslim scholars (including Galen and Avicenna) without proof and to whom is attributed the discovery of the micro cardiovascular system. He was born in Damascus. He depended in his treatment of illnesses mostly on nutritious foods rather than medications—17th Century copy.
