Description
Vase ''metallic yellow phenomenon Gre 356'' Franz Hofstötter (decor design), Loetz Witwe, Klostermühle, for the World's Fair in Paris 1900 Colorless glass with yellow underlay. The colorless top layer spun with wide, colorless veined silver-yellow stripes and irregularly warped. At the bottom orange-brown overlaid and extended to pointed tongues, above marbled melting in silver-yellow and brown tones, these irregularly distorted. Reduced and iridescent. Bottom signed in engraving ''Loetz Austria''. H. 21,5 cm. Lit.: Ricke/Vlcek, Lötz Bohemian Glass Vol. II, p. 91, no. 369 (form); Ricke/Vlcek, Lötz Bohemian Glass Vol. I, p. 123, no. 92 as well as Mergl/Ploil/Ricke, Lötz Bohemian Glass 1880 to 1940, p. 88, no. 33a (decor). The decoration, which was designed for the Paris World's Fair, recognizably reproduces the abstract motif of earth-plant-sky.
