Description
A tripe marked Fitchburg Railroad Lantern. The frame is a single piece Steam Gauge Lamp & Lantern brasstop with a pinch pot. Both the lid and bell have FITCHBURG embossed in nice lettering. The brasstop has been pushed in. It has a spin-down top to hold the globe in place. Where the verticals enter the base the original solder is weak but holding. The brass burner on the pinch pot is not original but that is not a difficult thing to replace. There are no Steam Gauge markings, but that I can guarantee. The globe is a fine 6" tear drop with flashed red over clear and FRR cast in bold lettering with no panel. there is one minor fleck off the red on the top and a series of flakes off the extended base. None show with the globe in the frame. For some reason Fitchburg reds always come with no panel. This lantern was purchased by a friend during the John Knowles collection during that era and now gets a new owner.
