Description
A Cheyenne Parfleche polychrome hide envelope, the rectangular form decorated with geometric designs in green and brick red, with a tie to secure the enclosure, overall 13"h x 25"w'. Provenance: purchased from Clinton, OK shop called Nelly's Trading Post in the late 1970s. Formerly known as Mohawk or Mohonk Trading Post in Colony, OK, it was started by the Dutch Reform Church in 1892, as a place for local Comanche, Kiowa and Cheyenne Indians to sell their handmade craft items and family heirlooms.
