Description

2 3/4" diam, 3/4" wide spool, two football shaped stamps: on the rear hard rubber plate "Julius Vom Hofe Pat. Oct. 8 '89" and on the head plate "Von Lengerke New York & Detmold.", counter balance handle, full length nickel silver foot with the size "2" stamp. While perforated rim trout reels from Julius were only offered for a few years, the German Silver and hard rubber is only found in a few catalogs dating from 1911 to 1913. With a rear click (loud) switch, removable rear bearing cap with correct washer, screw heads that show only slight use and a miniscule nick, this remains one of the nicest size 2 examples ever to come to auction.
