GERMAN ROSENTHAL SIGNED PORCELAIN PAIR OF HORSE PLAQUES, each featuring the profile of chestnut horse with white blaze, one with a bridle, each signed "Th. Karner" to bottom, and each housed in matching carved giltwood frames. One retaining Rosenthal label to back and one with stamp. Theodor Karner for Rosenthal Porcelain, Selb, Bavaria, Germany. First half 20th century. 11 3/4" x 9 3/4" sight, 16 3/8" x 14 3/8" OA.
Catalogue Note: Professor Theodor Karner (German, 1884-1966) was a sculptor and painter of exquisite animal figures. He was employed by porcelain factories including Nymphenburg, Rosenthal, Allach, and Eschenbach.

From a Shenandoah Valley private collection.
Condition
Plaques undamaged; frames having some expected wear/flakes to gilt paint and minor cracks. Not examined out of frame.
