Date: c. 1649
Description: Attractive portrait of Richard Collins by the artist Jean Philippe van Thielen (1618-1667) in doublet and with sash, after a portrait by Erasmus Quellinus. The Baroque painter devoted himself mainly to still lifes of flowers and was a pupil of Daniel Seghers in Antwerp from 1641. From: Image de divers hommes (1649). Titled below the depiction with the sitter's name, below three lines in French: "Seigneur de Couwenberch ... / .. / .. les tesinoinages.". Signed below: "Erasmus Quellinius pinxit" and "Richard Collin Sculpsit"; verso with collector's stamp "Collection D'Arenberg", listed in Lugt L.567 and book text. From the estate of the antiquarian Rosenthal Munich / Amsterdam.
