Folded lined single letter sheet with two paged of inked text written by A.H. Green (Allen H. Green enlisted 4-14-63 as musician in Co. H, 121 N.Y.V. Infantry) of the 6th Corps, N.Y. 121st Regiment, dated Feb 14, 1865 with stamped 6th Corps order rec.d dated Feb. 24, 1865 and two pages of docketed inked response from Major General John Grubb Parke, Commanding Officer Army of the Potomac and referred to him by Lt. General U.S. Grant with secretarial signature of Grant, 4 3/4 x 8". Very interesting letter where where his is complaining about the fact that he was asked to take up a musket and refused, after which he was hung up by his thumbs for 24 hours without food or water, then : put 2 cartridge boxes & 3 muskets on me which I carried for 12 hours. Allen wanted to know if he was required to carry a musket. Answered by Grant & Park's AAGs. Condition normal folds VG.
