Description
STAFFORDSHIRE "NAPOLEON" TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATTERS, LOT OF TWO, each featuring brown/sepia transfer military scenes with border design depicting alternating goddess and ewer images, comprising a tree-and-well example featuring "THE BATTLE OF MARENGO", printed to lower right of image, depicting the Little Corporal on horseback leading his troops, and one example featuring Return from Elba depicting Napoleon addressing his troops. Marks include printed "NAPOLEON", and "NAPOLEON BATTLE S / NEW / STONE CHINA / C.J.M. & Co." Charles James Mason & Co., Lane Delph, England. 1826-1848. 15 1/2" x 12 1/2" and 19 7/8" x 15 3/4".

Battle of Marengo having some chips to foot, one moderate; Return from Elba having two rim chips, one moderate, primarily to underside, and a hairline to back that does not go through to front; each having some expected usage wear including light short scattered scratches.
