ASSORTED EUROPEAN AND ASIAN MAPS, LOT OF FOUR, engraving on paper, three with hand-coloring, comprising a map of Buteshire in Scotland by William Home Lizars (Scottish, 1788-1859), two "LA FRANCE" maps published by J. Migeon (fl. c. 1855-1899) of Paris with vignettes consisting of "ALPES MARITIMES" and "COTE-D'OR", and a Gulf of Tonkin map after Daniel Tavernier (French, c. 1610-1648), titled "CARTE / Faite sur les lieux / PAR / DANIEL TAVERNIER / En plusieurs voiages quil a fait / au / TONQUIN" in a foliate cartouche in lower left corner, featuring Vietnam and parts of Southern China. Each in a later frame, Buteshire and "TONQUIN" housed under glass. Late 17th/early 18th and 19th century. "TONQUIN" 16 1/4" x 19 5/8" sight, 19 3/8" x 22 5/8" OA.Â
Condition
Good to very good visual condition with overall toning; Buteshire with typical fold lines having a few minor tears, a few spots; "TONQUIN" with typical fold lines, a few tears seen along the right edge; frames with some wear. Not examined out of frames.
