Description
A Small Upper Sepik Sacred board in the form of a shield, Probably Wogamus, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea.Of typical form for the style, with repeating curvilinear designs and circular motifs painted in pinkish red, yellow and white against a blackened raised surface design. This pseudo shield was probably used as a ceremonial board. It does however show fine signs of age and use. The designs are quite typical for the region. The panel measures 50 inches tall x 15.5 inches wide.
