Description
A pair of antique Japanese Satsuma porcelain vases. Late Meiji era, before 1912. Rounded shape, cylindrical neck. The pieces are richly decorated with hand-painted traditional Japanese ornaments, gilding, and multi-figure scenes. Hieroglyphical signature Yasuda is on the bottom of both pieces. Yasuda was a Japanese ceramic company established in Kyoto in 1896 by Yasuda Gensei. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
