Description
A Queen Anne burl walnut veneered high chest circa 1730 and later
(H: 61 in. W: 41 1/2 in. D: 23 in.)
In two parts, the upper section with molded cornice over a series of three short drawers over three graduated long drawers, the lower section with molded top over three short drawers, shaped apron, on cabriole legs with shell-carved knees, ending in ball-and-claw feet.

Property formerly in the collection of Christine O. Groves Burton (1893-1973), Baltimore, Maryland
Thence by descent to the present consignor.
Note
The majority of the items from this collection were acquired or ordered by Christine O. Groves (Burton) to furnish her home, built 1922, a Colonial Revival stucco mansion located at 225 Northway, Baltimore, Maryland. The house still stands.
Condition
with expected wear commensurate with age and use; some losses to veneer along edges, including around some drawers, as well as a missing veneer molding piece along back right-facing side; some rippling, puckering, and splitting to veneer, particularly to side panels of upper case and lower case; brasses appear to be old, but may be replaced- evidence that at least one escutcheon was replaced and repositioned; one small drawer with loss to one cockbeaded edge; mild occasional fading
