Timothy Pickering hand-written Revolutionary War document. Timothy Pickering signed the document as Quartermaster General for Washington's Army while it was stationed in Newburgh, NY. The signature appears within the document with the last name split between 2 lines. A small tear affects the first portion of the last name (picker) but the document is intact. The rest of the document is in great condition. The document is a receipt for payment of timber used for Washington's Army just a few months before the Treaty of Paris was signed officially ending The American Revolution. The revolutionary war ended in September of 1783. Pickering served as Quartermaster General of the Continental Army after Nathanael Greene took over the Southern Army. Pickering after the war would become the United States' second Secretary of State being appointed by Washington in 1795 upon the resignation of Edmond Randolph. Measures to be 8 x 6 1/4 inches
