Description
An envelope signed by former First Lady Edith Kermit Roosevelt (1861-1948) as "Edith K. Roosevelt" in the postage section, and additionally inscribed by her with the name and address of her recipient as "Mrs Edward Stern / 87 Nassau St. / New York City" below. Encapsulated and PSA/DNA graded NM-MT 8. With a black circular datestamp postmarked from Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York on June 17, 1930. Expected weathering including mounting traces verso, else in near fine condition, measuring 3.675" x 2.875." The slab measures 7.25" x 4.25."
Edith Roosevelt served as First Lady during the 1901-1909 presidency of her husband, 26th U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919). Edward Stern ran the Economist Stamp Company, a premier stamp dealership in New York City, and also published the "Economist Bulletin." His offices were located at 87 Nassau Street in the Financial District of Manhattan.
