Theodore Roosevelt Appoints Postmaster of Marion, Iowa, Ca. 1902
Partial-printed DS, 1p, measuring 16" x 19.5", dated March 13, 1902, Washington, D.C. An appointment naming one "Don W. Rathbun… Postmaster at Marion in the County of Linn, State of Iowa" for a specified term of four years. Signed by the President at lower right as "Theodore Roosevelt" and countersigned by Postmaster General Henry Clay Payne as "H. C. Payne". Featuring a fully intact seal of the Post Office Department, adorned with red ribbon at lower left. Evenly toned with areas of darkened soling along the perimeter and areas of isolated tearing at top edge. A very good example overall; boldly signed by all.
