Description
Glazed Porcelain Vase by Makuzu Kozan II (Japanese 1859-1940) of baluster form with applied handles in the form of kirin, finely decorated with writhing dragons in clouds in underglaze blue on a yellow ground, the neck decorated with a band of Ho-o birds in underglaze blue. Signed with six character mark in underglaze blue to base. Provenance: Perry Foundation. Exhibited: "Bridging East and West, Japanese Ceramics from The Kozan Studio," Baltimore, Walters Art Gallery, December 1994-April 1995, traveling to the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, England, 1996.

Condition: One handle with firing flaw, minor scattered firing flaws. Base slightly wobbles.
