Egypt, Middle or New Kingdom ca. 2100-1070 BC. Wood, stuccoed and painted. H. 3 45/64 in; 9.4 cm
Cylindrical wooden decorative element that tapers slightly towards the bottom. White stucco with polychromy on the entire object save the underside. An eight-petalled rosette on the slightly sloped upper side. Possibly from the bow or stern of a funerary boat.
Paint flaked in some places; partially fine greyish deposits on the surface.
Formerly priv. coll. Mr M., Paris, acquired between 1910 and 1950 from Baron Empain.
