This one shows the large pictorial title cartouche lower left. Left margin replaced. Centers on the Gulf of Mexico, showing in detail much of Texas (unnamed as area, but prominent placenames of Teyas and Teas on either side of thr Riode la Trinit; also, Naouadiches (Nacogdoches)Toaux, and; Louisiana with Orleans; Floride with Pensacola and St. Augustine (withâ€Å“The Southern Bounds of Carolina by the last Charterâ€Â) south of there; Charles Town, Kiawa, Hilton Head and dozens of Islands named. Hundreds of native tribes and villages, such as Mobiliens, Tansas, Cadodaquios, Yassous, Chaactaws, Chacchumas, Naouadoches, Oakmulgo, Cickesawhe, â€Å“Yamasee Indiansâ€Â(near Port Royal), and many more. Fort Argyle, K(ing) Georges F(ort), F(ort) Louis (Mobile Bay), â€Å“Spanish F(ort) St. Marco built 1719â€Â, Presidio del Norteo de St Juan Batista (Texas) and others. Missions include: St.Cristoval, La Conception (west Texas); St. Matheo, St. Pedro, and St. Francisco in Florida. Eighten sailing ships including a fleet sail up the Mexican gulf coast on the 'Course of the Spanish Galleons from Vera Cruz to the Havana to avoid the Trade Winds'. In the extravagant cartouche frock coated colonial masters oversee loading of barrelled and boxed goods while an open treasure chest overflows with jewelry. A native man with bow in hand points to the title on the left, while at the right a native mother has her arm around her child and gestures toward the colonials on the shore. Atop the title hill lounges a native queen with feathered headdress, sheath of arrows and cloth draped around her waist. One foot rests on an alligator/crocodile as the other presses on a severed, bearded European head with an arrow protruding from his forehead. Her appearance is serene.
