Ancient Anatolian or Balkans Neolithic Chalcolithic period Flint Axe Cucuteni Trypillian Culture circa 3rd millennium B.C. The item has a raw finishing without any polishing. Slightly trapezoidal shape with a thick-butted end and a sharpened edge on the opposite side. Made out matte grey stone very similar to the Miorcani flint from the Cenomanian chalky marl layer of the Moldavian Plateau. In the late Neolithic period the flintworkers achieved very high technical standards. This large, heavy and in excellent condition Ax from the Southeast of Europe or Near East can be included among the finest examples of the flintworkers’ outstanding skills at the end of the Stone Age.
