Description
[Photography] The William L. Burton Estate, "Bodlaw", built in Whitestone, Long Island, New York, in 1918, sold shortly in 1936, and absorbed, most likely, into Fort Totten during WWII. Bodlaw was situated at the edge of Millet's Point by Little Bay in view and across from the Arthur Hamerstein House in Cryder's Point, Whitestone. These images depict a lost period of New York City history where mansions were built just across from the city and where the majority have been abandoned or torn down to make way for urbanization and development. 24 photographs, each measures 8" x 10". Each with pen description of the photographs on the verso, a few with some on the image of points of interest. Most signed F.E. Geisler Studios, N.Y., some stamp on blank verso Whitestone Photo Service.
Condition: Minor wear to edges, some corner curling.
