Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Dine (Navajo), ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A sterling silver beaded necklace with lunate pendants known as a najas, the center pendant is inlaid with a turquoise cabochon. The naja crescent is a Navajo symbol that may have been introduced to the Southwest by the Spanish who may have adopted it from Muslim / Near Eastern tradition. The terminal tips form open hands which became a popular style for najas in the 20th century. The necklace is wearable; the beading and naja pendants are strung on a cotton thread with a hook and eyelet clasp. Size of strand: 24" L (61 cm); large pendant: 1.6" Diameter (4.1 cm); silver quality: 92% to 94%; weight: 78.9 grams

Condition
One hollow bead came apart at the seam, but both halves are secure on the strand. Could possibly be repaired with adhesive. Dark patina and toning. Wearable!
