Model 1816 Osborne Army Contract Flintlock Musket

Springfield, Massachusetts; .69 Caliber, 42 in. round smoothbore barrel, walnut stock, the lockplate lacks date and is marked SPRINGFIELD (not to be confused with the later martial stampings) with two eagle head proofs and fitted with a brass pan; five additional eagle heads are stamped variously on the barrel, stock plate and butt plate tang; two sling swivels are present; possible inspector's "JL" behind lockplate and "RN" on hammer.

Working action, but hammer slightly loose; powder pits on barrel at breech; lockplate, hammer and pan cleaned; stock with expected marks from use. Good condition overall.
