Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Apache (possibly Tohono O'odham), ca. 1890s to 1930s CE. A large cylindrical basket woven and twined from willow, sumac, devil's claw, or other native plants, featuring a figural motif around the exterior. This example may have been used for storage or gathering, and basketry with pictorial elements are coveted by collectors. Size: 10.75" Diameter x 11.5" H (27.3 cm x 29.2 cm)

Condition
Base is tearing away from the body, with loose and fraying fibers, losses to fibers as well. Losses to coils on rim and losses to stitches across body. Mineral deposits and discoloration on interior. Fair condition.
