Description
Excerpted full-color copper-plate engravings from Civitates Orbis Terrarum, a town atlas printed by Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg (ca. 1572) that became one of the best-selling works of the last quarter of the 16th century. Depicted are CALECHVT (modern-day Kolkata), ORMVS (medieval kingdom of Hormuz), and CANANOR (modern-day Kannur). On the reverse is printed French text with descriptions of each city.
