Description
WESTERN VIRGINIA (NOW WEST VIRGINIA) CARVED AND PAINTED PINE WALL BOX, half-blind dovetailed construction, the front carved with a six-petal rosette, the back with a central arch having a worn hanging hole. Retains its original dry, red-wash surface, the rosette with remnants of yellow paint. Circa 1830. 4 1/2" HOA, 11" x 4 1/4".Â
Catalogue Note:Â The present box was originally found at a home in Parsons, WV.

Condition
Good as-found condition, front with a chip to lower right corner, scattered small nail holes, expected wear.
