Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay culture ca. 1000 to 1200 CE. Medium-size pottery jar of ovoid form ironically showing a man carrying pottery jar. His features in high relief with headband sporting large medallion, almond-shaped eyes, long straight nose. He sits with legs in lower relief, small feet emerging below. He holds a twisted rope around his shoulders which supports three simple jars upon his back. Painted in shades of brown and tan. Size: 7.75" W x 11.75" H (19.7 cm x 29.8 cm)
