THIS HELMET IS MADE OF WOOD WITH THE NEW YORK FIREMEN'S ASSOCIATION SHIELD. 48 TH. 18 ST. IN ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH IRON HANGERS FOR HANGING. IT DATES TO EARLY TO MID-20TH. CENTURY AND IS IN ORIGINAL PAINT, NO REPAIRS. THE REAR HANGER COULD BE AN OLD REPLACEMENT. IT MEASURES 32 INCHES X 20 INCHES X 17 INCHES. THESE FIRE SIGNS ARE VERY UNUSUAL. A SIMILAR EXAMPLE WAS SOLD AT JULIA AUCTION, AUGUST 18, 20017. ITEM # 3186. JULIA EXAMPLE DOESN'T HAVE THE EAGLE FINIAL AS THIS ONE HAS. SEE PHOTO.??
