Description

1987 BMW 635 CSi Chassis no. WBAEC610X01280371 • 44,000 kilometres from new • Full and up-to-date service history • Delivered new to Switzerland • Imported in Germany with all Euro taxes paid * Please note that this car will be available for viewing by prior appointment in Germany. The E24 BMW 6-series was first introduced back in 1976 and remained in production for over thirteen years, impressing owners and onlookers alike with its winning combination of high-speed civility and mid-pace agility. Powered by a variety of six-cylinder engines and both manual and automatic gearboxes, every single variant could top 130mph (210km/h), with the range-topping M635CSi able to reach a heady 160mph (257km/h). Mechanically similar to the 5-series saloons and styled by Karmann like its immediate predecessor, the 3.0CS/CSi, BMW's 6-Series coupe was periodically updated and face-lifted throughout its production run. The car was well specified, featuring all-independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and power-assisted steering as standard. Starting with the 3.0-litre 630 and 3.3-litre 633, the range was supplemented in 1978 by the 635CSi. For this ultimate expression of the line, BMW fitted its luxury coupé with a race-developed 3.5-litre engine producing 218bhp, an output sufficient to endow the fully equipped 635CSi with performance equal to that of the lightweight 3.0CSL. Even today, some 40 years on, these big BMW coupes have enormous presence, and with a 0-96km/h (0-60mph) time of around 7.0 seconds and a top speed of 225km/h (140mph) in the case of the 635CSi, are not slow even by today's standards. This low-kilometres car was delivered new to its first owner, Lilly Saran, in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1987, and remains in her ownership until 2014. It was exported from Switzerland to Germany two years ago, with all appropriate EU taxes paid. There are many invoices and receipts on file, attesting to the diligence of its care and curation. The car's service book is comprehensively stamped up to the present day. The car comes with a German importation document and its original Swiss registration document. Lot to be sold without reserve.
