Napoleonic or War of 1812 Prisoner-Made Carved Bone Hand-Painted Napoleon & Josephine Portraits Gamebox
c. 1814 Napoleonic or War of 1812 Era, Hand-Carved and Hand-Painted Bone Prisoner of War Made Gamebox, with "Napoleon & Josephine" Portrait Theme, Choice Very Fine.
A highly decorative and attractive Prisoner of War made Gamebox. This decorative Hand-Carved Bone Gamebox is complete with its original sliding lid measures 6.5" long x 2.5" wide x 1" deep. It is two nicely decorated with top central colorful Hand-painted images of Napoleon and Josephine protected under period glass. This gamebox exhibits some slight chipping and wear with a minor crack along the right side and a slightly loose panel on the sliding lid. The surrounding box is constructed of wood laminated with thin inscribed bone panels which once contained pieces for playing a game which are now lacking. The thin carved bone panels are nicely engraved with floral designs and the larger painted figures of Napoleon and Josephine, typically produced by a prisoner of war looking to sell it for money.
