A WOOD NETSUKE OF TOBOSAKU SENNIN ON A LARGE PEACH, EDO PERIOD
Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)
The peach sennin seated on a gigantic peach and holding a large reishi scepter with both hands. The immortal is wearing a long flowing robe with a leafy apron, the face with a joyful expression. The back with two asymmetrical himotoshi.
HEIGHT 5 cm
Condition: Good condition with minor surface wear and few natural age cracks.
Provenance: From the collection of Gaston Lazard (1878-1956) and his wife Jane Levy (1886-1985) and thence by descent within the same family.
