Reportage ‘dal vivo’ della guerra Russo-Giapponese in Manciuria, di uno dei primi e dei più importanti giornalisti di guerra dell’epoca. Scritto dopo la battaglia di Liaoyang, conclusa il 3 settembre 1904, che vide la sconfitta dei Russi. Sono descritte le manovre e gli spostamenti delle truppe e sono citati i generali russi Kuropatkin e Orlov e il generale giapponese Kuroki Itei. La datazione si evince soprattutto dalla pagina finale, in cui Naudeau prevede con precisione gli sviluppi della campagna militare: «une chose cependant est certaine, c’est que si decidement ni les Russes ni les Japonais n’entreprennent aucune operation pendant l’hiver la plus grande battaille des temps modernes se deroulera au commencement du mois de Mai entre Moukden et Liao Yang» La battaglia di Mukden, una delle più grandi battaglie terrestri combattute prima della prima guerra mondiale e l'ultima e più decisiva battaglia terrestre della guerra russo-giapponese, fu combattuta dal 20 febbraio al 10 marzo 1905 tra il Giappone e la Russia vicino a Mukden, in Manciuria. La Russia fu sconfitta e in seguito, nella ritirata dell’esercito, lo stesso Naudeau fu catturato dai Giapponesi e portato in Giappone. Il reportage si conclude con un commento che è anche un auspicio per il futuro: «Mais alors extenues incapables d’agir, vaincus tous deux, vaincus l’un par l’autre, ils seraient obliges enfin de subordonner l’un et l’autre leur convoitises et leur orgueil a la raison»Ludovic Charles Naudeau, 1872-1949, giornalista e scrittore francese, fu uno dei primi reporter importanti della guerra russo-giapponese del 1904-1905; era presente nella Russia sovietica durante la rivoluzione bolscevica e gli dobbiamo un'intervista con Lenin. Le sue domande lo portarono a trascorrere qualche tempo nelle prigioni sovietiche dalle quali venne rilasciato il 22 dicembre 1918. Ha pubblicato diversi lavori, in particolare sul Giappone, oltre a due romanzi.Cfr. 'Live' reportage of the Russian-Japanese war in Manchuria, by one of the first and most important war journalists of the time. Written after the Battle of Liaoyang, which ended on 3 September 1904, which saw the defeat of the Russians. The maneuvers and movements of the troops are described and the Russian generals Kuropatkin and Orlov and the Japanese general Kuroki Itei are mentioned. The dating is evident above all from the final page, in which Naudeau precisely predicts the developments of the military campaign: «une chose cependant est certaine, c’est que si decidement ni les Russes ni les Japonais n’entreprennent aucune operation pendant l’hiver la plus grande battaille des temps modernes se deroulera au commencement du mois de Mai entre Moukden et Liao Yang». The Battle of Mukden, one of the largest land battles fought before World War I and the last and most decisive land battle of the Russian-Japanese War, was fought from 20 February to 10 March 1905 between Japan and Russia near Mukden, in Manchuria. Russia was defeated, and following the army's retreat, Naudeau himself was captured by the Japanese and taken to Japan.The reportage concludes with a comment which is also a hope for the future: "More to the end incapable of action, vaincus tous deux, vaincus l'un par l'autre, ils seraient obliges enfin de subordinater l'un et l' other words convoitises et leur orgueil a la raison".Ludovic Charles Naudeau, 1872-1949, French journalist and writer, was one of the first important reporters of the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-1905; he was present in Soviet Russia during the Bolshevik revolution and we owe him an interview with Lenin. His questions led him to spend some time in Soviet prisons from which he was released on 22 December 1918. He published several works, particularly on Japan, as well as two novels.
