Description
Circa 1690-1700
The baluster form neck with a coat of arms painted below a band of inverted leaf tips, the globular lower portion painted with three variant scenes of children at play, one entitled Le Jeu des Epingles (The Pin Game aka Jacks), each scene separated by a shaped scale-pattern panel.
Height 9 ¾ inches (24.8 cm)
The scenes on the present vase are taken from engravings by Claudine Bouzonnet-Stella after drawings by Jacques Stella from a series entitled The Games and Pleasures of Childhood. Scenes from this series are also known on eighteenth-century Meissen porcelain.
