in the Louis XVI style
the drum case with floral garland cast bezel surmounted by the figure of the escaped winged Cupid recumbent on drapery and flanked to one side by a classical maiden, probably Venus, trying to catch him, the bow-fronted marble plinth base inset with a central figural plaque depicting putti around an empty cage and floral with flowerhead mounts, on foliate toupie feet, the 4.25 Roman enamel dial with outer Arabic five minute track and pierced hands, the brass twin train movement with Brocot type suspension and outside countwheel striking on a bell, with pendulum and key,
