Description
A Native American flat woven rug, probably Chimayo, late 19th to early 20th century. Small stained area, small loss on one end, and some minor moth holes, but overall good condition. Measures 32" x 53". Provenance: From the Thomas & Gail Rockwell collection, LaGrangeville NY. Tom is the son of the renowned American artist, Norman Rockwell and the author or many children's books. His late wife Gail, was an artist-illustrator and the daughter of Arthur E. Sudler and Janet Whitson Sudler, both early 20th century artists - she illustrated several of her husband's children's books.
