Description: Comprises: Manuscript cover sheet; 2 leaves of printed form filled out in ink on first page with the names and racial origin of the slaves, their age, name of patron, etc., with inkstamps and paper seal; 2 sheets of sealed paper with ink manuscript on both sides conveying further details. 32x22 cm (12½x8¾"), stitched together.Rare Cuban manumission form detailing the status of two former slaves, an African named Vicente, 24, and a criolla called Sotera, 21. The patron was Bonifacio Carbonell, as noted at the beginning of the first printed leaf, "Certifico que los individuos que á continuacion se expresan, y que como patrodinados se hallan a cargo de D. Bonifacio Carbonell vecino de Matanzas fueron inscriptos en el padron general de esclavos." [Roughly translated, "I certify that the individuals who are expressed below, and who as sponsored are under the charge of Mr. Bonifacio Carbonell, resident of Matanzao, were registered in the general registry of slaves."]

Condition
Normal wear, old horizontal fold, stitching coming loose; the two manuscript leaves at end are darkened with bleed-through of the ink, adding challenge to their legibility; overall very good.
