Description
China, 19th to mid-20th century. Of oblong form, the top carved with ruyi clouds and pierced for suspension, finely carved to both sides with verses from a poem by the Qianlong Emperor on a pavilion in the Summer Palace. The translucent stone of a pale tone with splashes of emerald-green and russet veins.
Provenance: British trade. Acquired from a private estate in Scotland.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and little nibbling.
