Native American / First Nations, Northwest Coast United States, Alaska or Canada, Inupiaq / Inuit people, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved whale bone landscape with a fishing scene made up of walrus ivory figures, fish, and a seal. The parka clad people have tiny holes which separate poles or ropes may have been inserted (now absent). The fish have thread lines attached to their mouths and hooks -the artist may have intended for this piece to rest at the very edge of a tabletop or shelf- for the lines to dangle freely. Size: 6" L x 3" W x 2.75" H (15.2 cm x 7.6 cm x 7 cm)
