Chinese Ming Dynasty Xuande Blue and White Porcelain Plate. The plate has a broad wide central interior, rounded mouth lip, thick and large, raised on correspondence footed ring base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color depicted of abundant ripe pomegranate tree with fresh foliage, sturdy branch and flowers bloom. Pomegranate is known as the fruit of happiness for its red color and is a symbol of plentiful offspring for its many seeds, as well as good luck for one's descendants. The Daoist attribute to it the same power as the peach of immortality. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayfish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
