ESCHOLIER, Raymond. Lettera autografa firmata ad Aurore Dudevant-Sand. 3 febbraio 1927Bifolio in 8vo. 180x132 mm. Testo su 2 pagine, bianche la seconda e la quarta. Scrittura in nitido corsivo, inchiostro bruno. Data in testa “Le 3 fevrier 27”. Firma nella prima pagina. Il critico d’arte parigino, dopo aver elogiato Aurore e aver citato il Carnevale di Nohant, chiede ritratti e ricordi di George Sand giovane, prima del 1830, quando “George Sand non era ancora nata, ma Aurore Dupin esisteva”. L’occasione è una mostra sugli autori romantici che sta organizzando presso la Maison de Victor Hugo. In effetti la scrittrice utilizzò la prima lo pseudonimo George Sand per firmare il romanzo Indiana, nel 1832. “Chere Madame, Laissez-moi vous dire ma joie de voir honore aujourd’hui la petite fille de George Sand. C’esta la parfaite consecration de la belle exposiition de Carnevalet, des fetes de Nohant et de votre talent litteraire, si personnel. […] Je me permets de vous rappeler que la ville de Paris organise pour avril prochain dans la maison de Victor Hugo une exposition consacree a la Jeunesse des Romantiques, c’est a dire anterieure a 1830. George Sand alors n’etait pas nee, mais Aurore Dupin existait et c’est la petite fille e la jeune fille que nous voudrions evoquer par de portraits, par des souvenirs. Proprio nel 1927 aveva pubblicato “Delacroix, peintre, graveur, écrivain“, in cui parla del soggiorno del pittore a Nohant, ove aveva dipinto diverse tele. La mostra “La jeunesse des romantiques” si terrà poi dal 18 maggio al 30 giugno 1927; R. Escholier scrive la prefazione del Catalogo.Aurore Dudevant-Sand, 1866-1961, figlia di Maurice Sand, nipote di George Sand e di Casimir Dudevant, pittrice e scrittrice, sposò il pittore Frédéric Charles Lauth. Ereditò il castello e tenuta di Nohant.

The Parisian art critic, after praising Aurore and citing Nohant's Carnival, asks for portraits and memories of George Sand as a young woman, before 1830, when "George Sand had not yet been born, but Aurore Dupin existed". The occasion is an exhibition on romantic authors that he is organizing at the Maison de Victor Hugo.
