A typed poem entitled "A Portrait of the Honorable Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt", written in the format of a mnemonic device with each letter corresponding to the letters in her first and last name, by one James E. "Jimmie" Grice. 1p, measuring 8" x 10.5", Greenville, South Carolina, dated September 15, 1960. Signed on designated autograph line in blue ink as "Eleanor Roosevelt". Exhibits moderate wear, including flattened letter folds, creasing along top edge and scattered markings at upper left. Otherwise good condition with intact signature.
Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962) was an American political figure, diplomat, and activist who became the longest-serving First Lady during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office. Following her husband's death in 1945, Roosevelt remained active in politics for the remaining 17 years of her life.
