DS

Theodore Roosevelt document signed as President, appointing Henry Percival Dodge as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to El Salvador. Dated September 18, 1907, Roosevelt signs with his usual elegant autograph, "Theodore Roosevelt". Countersigned by Robert Bacon as Acting Secretary of State. Two page document on a single sheet measures 9.75" x 13". Middle fold, with scattered foxing to margins and slight smudging to signature. Overall in very good condition.

On July 1, 1907, during a recess of the U.S. Senate, President Theodore Roosevelt concurrently appointed Henry Percival Dodge (1870-1936) as the United States Minister to Honduras and El Salvador. He presented his credentials in El Salvador on December 31, 1907, and in Honduras on June 17, 1908, almost a year after his initial appointment. During his term, he was a resident of San Salvador and served both countries until February 6, 1909, when he was recommissioned to El Salvador only.
