A signed photograph of President Chiang Kai-shek of the Republic of China, accompanied by a related letter. Measuring 3.75" x 5.75", Taipei, n.d. [ca. April 1972]. A matte-finish portrait of President Chiang Kai-shek, signed in Chinese in black ink at the lower left edge. The reverse bears a Hu Chung Hsien photographer?s stamp. The photograph is accompanied by a typed letter signed by the Director of the Office of the President and the original mailing envelope. Very fine condition, boldly signed. Expected wear and folds to the letter and transmittal envelope. With an LOA from PSA.
Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975) served as a Chinese politician and military leader of the Republic of China (ROC) and the Generalissimo of the National Revolutionary Army. He served in these positions in mainland China from 1928 to 1949, when his nationalist Kuomintang (KMT) party was defeated in the Chinese Civil War by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In the years that followed, he led the remnant of the ROC government on the island of Taiwan until his death in 1975.
