A signed copy of Walt Whitman's "Specimen Days & Collect." Philadelphia: David McKay, 1882-3. Second printing, First issue. A McKay reprint of the 1882-83 Rees Welsh and Co. edition, following their late 1882 takeover of Rees Welsh's publishing activities. Twelvemo, 376pp. Signed and dated on the title page in blue crayon, "Walt Whitman/Feb 28 1887." With a photographic portrait plate. Publishers' green cloth covered boards with a gilt-stamped facsimile signature stamped on the front. Gilt border and stamped title and design on the spine. Green floral endpapers. Some edgewear and general rubbing to the boards. Areas of soiling and staining to covers and darkening to the spine. Spine material has some chipping and wear to the top and bottom edges. Foxing to internal endpapers. Boldly signed by Whitman.
