Two Bianchi di Faenza maiolica armorial salts, possibly workshop of Battista di Sante Mazzanti, late 16th century
Moulded 'a barchetta' with four paw feet, the arms painted in the well,

Two similar salts with different arms in the centre, attributed possibly to the workshop of Francesco Mezzarisa, circa 1578, are illustrated by C. Ravanelli Guidotti, 'Bianchi' di Faenza (1996), no. 2; see no. 33 for another, with the arms of Francesco I de'Medici, from the Bettisi workshop, circa 1568.

Condition
One with one paw foot restuck (extensive old and slightly discoloured overpainting); 1cm shallow chip to tip of another foot. Flat chip to tip of one handle.
The second with one foot restuck and extensive associated discoloured overpainting. Two small flat chips to the edge of a second foot.
Three spots of glaze flaking to one side, and two retouched small areas of glaze flaking to other side. One handle with flat chip to tip and three very small spots of glaze flaking.
Otherwise generally in good condition.
