THE SEARCHERS
One Sheet (27" x 41.5")
Very Fine+ on Linen
Warner Bros., 1956
Steeped in beautiful imagery destined to match the film's epic VistaVision cinematography, this Bill Gold one sheet for John Ford's classic Western depicts the two horse-bound leads, John Wayne and Jeffrey Hunter, amidst the iconic cliffsides of Monument Valley. One sheets for this film do not come to market frequently, and this one is sheer beauty with its fresh colors and clean appearance.
This very clean poster on linen had pinholes in all four corners with a small V-shaped paper tear in the top left and right areas in white that are barely noticeable. Plus, there was some slight chipping in the two upper cross-fold center points.
Among the finest films ever produced, John Ford's The Searchers redefined the American Western and turned John Wayne and Natalie Wood into two of Hollywood's most famous stars. Known for its epic vistas and complex storytelling, the film was one of the first 25 films ever added to the Library of Congress for its impact on global culture.
This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, April 18th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on April 19th.
