Description
St. Marys, Ontario. 1890-1910. Earthenware. Scarce. Made by the Huron Pottery in Egmondville. John Rogers opened his grocery store in St. Marys in the mid-1880s and continued for several years, to the 1920s and beyond. Approximately one-gallon size. Incised, in hand-written script (sgraffito) "J P Rogers / St Marys / Ontario" and an "X", on each side of the handle's lower terminal. 11" x 7.5" Dia. From the Late Mike O'Hara Collection.
Condition
Small chip on base. Tiny unseparated potstone right of centre. Otherwise excellent condition.
