Kuna Mola - Indigenous Panamanian Art - Kuna, also spelled Cuna, Chibchan-speaking Indian people who once occupied the central region of what is now Panama and the neighbouring San Blas Islands and who still survive in marginal areas. Mola is hand sewn, brightly decorated fabric art. This example is signed "A.A" by the artist in lower right. Depicts a colorful figure, with a deep red center (believed to suggest to be a baby in it's mother womb). Framed. Measures 13.5”h x 12”w. Item comes from the collection of Timothy Koock.
