Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl of hemispherical form with a grooved rim. The exterior features a pair of large triangular forms on a red ground while the white-ground basin is densely adorned with linear and geometric motifs in red and black pigment. Size: 4.8" L x 4.7" W x 2.7" H (12.2 cm x 11.9 cm x 6.9 cm)
Provenance: Private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000

Professional restoration to center of basin, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Light fading to original pigment, otherwise in nice condition.
